Baldivis Community Support Inc, also known as Happy Pantry, is committed to ensuring that everyone in their community has access to nutritious food.

Their mission is to help local residents thrive by providing equitable access to food through community partnerships.

“We believe everyone deserves healthy, nutritious food. Through our care packages and partnerships, we’re making sure no one in our community goes without,” says Nirvana Danzi, Treasurer.

Happy Pantry supports a wide range of individuals, from mothers with young children to the elderly and those in need of emergency assistance, “We provide care packages, partner with schools for breakfast clubs, and work with local organisations to distribute food to the homeless,” explains Danzi.

Over the past year, Happy Pantry has significantly expanded its reach, increasing food distribution from 1,000kg to 3,300kg per week and now recognised as a local Council emergency referral centre.

After receiving a SilverChef Community Grant valued at $5,000 AUD, Happy Pantry purchased key kitchen equipment, including a two-group coffee machine, to enhance their community kitchen.

“The new equipment has helped us better provision our kitchen and improve our ability to provide fresh meals to more people,” says Danzi.

The funds also helped cover fuel costs to collect donated produce from supermarkets and distribute it to schools and charities. “This has allowed us to increase the volume of food we collect and distribute, meaning we can help more people in need,” Danzi adds.

With this support, Happy Pantry has expanded its services, improving nutrition and fostering stronger social connections in the community.
